A compact and innovative pilot plant was planned and built by ZÜBLIN Umwelttechnik to investigate the remediation of groundwater contaminated with organic pollutants such as benzene and ammonium.

The aerated water passes through two aerated chambers in which it is biologically purified via a fixed-bed reactor. Precise dosing pumps enable the targeted addition of nutrients and pH regulation. Flocculants can also be added. A sedimentation tank with an overflow weir separates sludge and solids from the water before bag filters and activated carbon filters complete the purification process.
