Fully automated treatment system

Groundwater in this industrial site in Piano d’Orta, Bolognano (PE), was impacted by inorganic contaminants including arsenic, iron, selenium, lead and sulphates. In June 2025, ZÜBLIN Umwelttechnik installed a new Pump & Treat system as part of the hydraulic containment measures at the site. The extracted groundwater is first equalized and oxidized by dosing sodium hypochlorite, controlled by the redox potential, to promote the oxidation and subsequent filtration of dissolved iron and other metals. The water is then treated through an adsorption stage with ferric hydroxide for the removal of arsenic, followed by a guard sand filter and an ion-exchange unit for sulphate removal, before the treated water is released into a surface water body.
The new treatment module has a design capacity of 20 m³/h.

Scope of services
