Treatment plant for groundwater with PFAS-pollution

Relevant concentrations of the pollutant group PFAS were detected in the catchment area of the Tegel waterworks. The groundwater from the contaminated wells is routed to a purification plant where it is cleaned of PFAS after pre-treatment to remove impurities.

Pollutants

  • Σ PFAS max. approx. 1,240 ng/L
  • PFOS: approx. 700 ng/L, PFOA: approx. 40 ng/L, PFHxS: approx. 500 ng/L
  • Iron / manganese: approx. 1.4 mg/L / approx. 0.4 mg/L
  • DOC: approx. 4 mg/L
  • Purification performance: 1 ng/L single substance PFOS, PFOA, PFNA and PFHxA

Scope of services

  • Gravel filter / deferrization
  • Water activated carbon filter, two-stage (Vges= 2 x 75 m³)
  • Activated carbon type PFAS optima®
