Removal of PFAS from leachate

In the canton of Solothurn, Vigier Beton operates a landfill site for mineral construction waste and inert materials. During rainfall, rainwater seeps through the landfill body and may absorb pollutants such as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). The contaminated water is collected via a drainage system and then treated in a fully automated, multi-stage treatment plant, where the PFAS are removed from the leachate.

The treated water is then discharged into the receiving watercourse (Are).
