The ZÜBLIN BioBF biological desulphurization filter is our latest development for the purification and desulphurization of biogas or sewage gas. It is used for the pre-desulphurization of biogas with a high hydrogen sulphide content.

Description and area of application
The BioBF desulphurization filter is always used when high hydrogen sulphide concentrations lead to a high consumption of iron preparations for internal desulphurization or activated carbon for external desulphurization. With the BioBF, the majority of the sulphur load can be removed from the gas upstream of the biogas activated carbon filter. This leads to a significant increase in service life and a considerable reduction in operating costs.

The ZÜBLIN BioBF removes the harmful hydrogen sulphide from the biogas or sewage gas by biological oxidation. The filter contains a specially prepared filter material on which the microbiological processes to break down the hydrogen sulphide take place.

Advantages

  • Cost savings by reducing or eliminating the addition of iron supplements in the fermenter
  • Cost savings by reducing or eliminating the addition of iron supplements in the fermenter
  • BioBF filter material especially for the microbiological process
  • Very low operating costs - The BioBF requires almost no operating materials
  • Material HDPE - no corrosion even with very acidic and corrosive gas contents and condensate

Biogas Innovation Award 2020

Incidentally, the new BioBF desulphurization filter also impressed the jury at the 2020 Biogas Innovation Congress. ZÜBLIN Umwelttechnik won the Biogas Innovation Award 2020 with the topic "Biological pre-desulphurization for the pre-cleaning of biogas with a high sulphur content".
